I have a 1976 Ranger Bass Boat that I would like to convert to a center console. I'm going to remove the cap and replace the stringers, floor board, and transom. However, I'm not going to replace the cap as I'm trying to make more floor room. Will this weaken the hull and if so is there anything that can be done to add streanth to the hull.

Ayuh,... It'll be as flimsy as a wet Noodle, without gunnels...

Without a pic I don't know what the current layout is, but center consoles typically have less room than a bass boat of the same size.
