Engine Starts, but doesn't stay running?

I currently have a 1970 9.5 H.P. short shaft motor, the problem is, that it runs for two or three seconds and then kills? The carb has been cleaned about two months ago, and a new fuel pump has been put on it, any other ideas or suggestions on what the problem could be?

Sounds like a gas problem but it hard to say for sure. Have you adjusted the slow speed needle after the carb. cleaning? Best of luck. Rick.
