Have 1990 Evinrude 150XP.Partially submerged for 1 hr in 3 ft(lot of sand in water).Motor runs ok but runs hot.Have replaced thermostats, gaskets, etc and cleaned water ways on top of head.Still getting sand and grit that clogs thermostats.Any way to clear grit?Have thought about removing lower unit.Is there a way to flush water passages with out removal.BTW Pump seems to be OK,water comes thru p-hole until stopped by grit.

There are better members than I to answer your question but in the mean time I would suggest you stop trying to run it if there is even a remote possibility you got sand into the combustion chambers etc. It will do damage. You say "partially submerged." Can you explain that better. There are ways to flush the water jacket I'm sure. Rick.
