Thats the max id pay if:
i really needed it.
I knew the history of it.
The controls came with it.
And it was contingent on the motor being good with just one minor issue needing repair.

Thats in my area where they are available and everyone needs money.

Keep in mind it's now 23 years old with the new model's out. Just a water pump, and carb kit's will up that price quite a bit.

To me, that price sounds about right. If it is running good, has even compression and has power trim I think that is a fair price. If it doesn't have power trim take about $300 off the price. That is here in Michigan. Over in the UK I have no idea what the market is like. I would guess that typically prices for items like that are slightly higher than here in the Great Lakes region of the US.

sounds high to me, too, unless you knew the seller and its history/maintenance. At that price it has to have PTT. Maybe at that price your seller would pay for a mechanic look-over? Maybe OK if it's been an exclusively fresh water motor.
Price the cost of disconnecting the VRO--don't you have to change the fuel pump too?

No to that but i agree on a bit high priced but location is a big factor
Here in East Texas that motor with controls would bring (or go for) about $700 - $800 MAX in great condition
