Will a carb from a 1971 75hp Johnson fit onto a 1963 75hp Starflite? It looks like it will just by looking at the pics, but I can't be certain.

Re: Carb Interchange

The '63 motor had a single 2 BBL downdraft carb. Did the '71 also have this style? I would have thought they would have changed to a side draft carb by then.

Re: Carb Interchange

They didnt make a 75hp in 1971, the V-4 75hp was from 1960-1964/65 and didnt reappear till 1975/76 then as a 3 cylinder. Are you sure it not a 85hp carb, as the 1966-68 85hp had the same 2 barrel down draft carb?

Yeah, it's definitely the two bbl downdraft with water choke and fixed high speed. Looks identical to the '63, but I can't see the mating surface from the pics so I don't know it it will mate up. The guy selling it tells me it's from a '71 Johnson. I'll email him again to let him know that the year must be wrong.

Re: Carb Interchange

The easly double barrel, down draft carb is nothing like the later single barrel carb. They certainly will not interchange.
