Should be a model number on a plate on the top of the bracket above the clamps. FD 11 57 through FD 19 65. May be a number on a soft plug(silver disc) on the head.

the number I have are from the tag on the transom mount. It reads "when ordering parts give serial number 15012-05836" I have looked all over for any other tags, such as the soft round tag and there is not one. I may need to post some pictures

It is, indeed a '55 15hp Evinrude Fastwin. Cool motors!

OOPS.. I just saw the pic of the seahorse imbossed in the metal on the leg. THAT part, at least, is from a johnson. I don't know why they'd put the evinrude model number for parts ordering on that motor? Unless it's been pieced together from 2 motors?

I am now starting to wonder why the motor only cost me $20.00. I also looked up the serial number on evinrude and it does seem that it is an evinrude or it has been pieced it together. My only hope is that someone can identify the type of motor from what it looks like.

It's an Evinrude cowl, but the leg is definitely from a Johnson.

Those pictures are very hard to see but it looks like a mid 50's Johnson 10 hp based on the lower unit. The model number and cowling are Evinrude though. Do you have better pics?
