I recently purchased a 2001 Yamaha 115 4 stroke. I was told the engine has sat idle for 2yrs. What would is the SOP for prep starting the motor. No stablizer was added fuel.

PLEASE HELP.

Remove all the fuel from every area of tank, lines, bulbs, primer bulb, filters, refill tank with fresh fuel and Stabil Marine Fuel Stabilizer. Start motor and take it out on water for a good run. If you're lucky then that old fuel that was in your system hasn't plugged anything up and you'll be good to go, otherwise look for fuel-related issues. Hope it runs great for you!

welcome to iboats!!!

yep, i agree with robert.

if you are lucky you wont need this link, but just in case http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31

if it has sat for that long you should also change the water pump and lower unit lube..along with a tune up of course, plugs, oil change,etc.... all are simple procedures and require minimal tools.
