10 hours and a stalling and no restart issue. vapor lock? carb junk ? bad gas?

So today I got hours 7 - 10 out of the way and finsihed the break in. She runs great. but, when coming in tongiht I ran her harder then before between 3500 and 3700 tops rpm. After a 30 mins run i get a to a wake and the engine stumbles and die ( if i gave it gas it would maintian buit at idle it dies). So after 30 mins of not re starting it starts. I run again for 45 mins top out at 3500 ish rpms come to a no wake and it woudl stumble at idle but would keep strong above 1200 I finally let it idle and it dies. wont start for an hour. Then i start it and it idles fine right at 800. I drive 20mins home and no idle when I get to the dock. What the deal vapor lock?

I just took it our and the same thing. There is also a big gas smell in the area and it looks like the carb is dumping gas after it is off. What would cause this to happen only after a hard run?

Also, vapor lock is out because it will run great above 1500 rpms right?

Definitely sounds like carb. problems. You don't say which carb you have, but the symptoms are pretty much the same. From what you explain, it's probably flooding from a bad float or seat. Gas should not drip after the engine is turned off.

carb is a q jet and is newly rebuilt from a local shop. I will take it back

Ayuh,... Good call,... I'd be lookin' at the Carb...

pulled the carb off today and pulled it apart. OMG the filter had little beach worth of sand in it. I pulled the fuel water seperator and man. What a mess. SO I will clean the tank and the carb. New float, seat and needle going in too

Glad you found the problem. Do yourself a favor and be very, very thorough so you're not doing it again next season. Only takes a small particle lodged in the wrong place....
