Alignment tool usage on multiple engines?

Will the engine alignment tool for a Mercruiser 5.0 liter work on a 3.0 liter?

I believe the yamaha L4 leg also. I found a drawing on the alpha tool on the net, (post'92 i think it was), so i machined one and i use it on my yammie.

Ayuh,.... It fits Anything that needs aligning, except Merc's new Vazer, or whatever it's called....

It even fits the Vazer (Diesel) bondo, it's just the fancy one gets it much closer a lot easier than the standard bars. The Vasers are just a lot more critical in their alignment than any of the gas engines.

Huh,... I thought it was about some tiny little powerplant that was to update the 3.0l...
I thought I saw a Picture of 1 a year ago maybe,..??..

Didn't know it had Anything to do with Diesel though...

Well, that didn't take long. Looks like I was way off on a lot about that thing.
1.6L, not 1.3L, and it has spark plugs and runs on 87 octane gas ..... So much for my diesel theory.

I have the service manual for it, just never really looked at it. Have never seen one either.
I'll upload the manual and post a link to it if you want to see it.

OK, found it on my own...

MerCruiser Vazer, the stern drive powered by a 1.6 L General Motor?s Vortec four-cylinder engine. Rated 100 horsepower

Back to the original posters question. Yes, the alignment bar will work on ANYTHING with a gimbal bearing. ............. Including the Vaser.
