I read on a site that said the 10 hp johnson was made with fuel pumps starting in 1959 but the sentence was followed with "I believe".. can anyone confirm this for me? exactly what year did they start putting the fuel pump on the sea horse

The 10hp got the fuel pump in 1960. The 50hp and some 35hps had it in 1958.

However, it seems to be a little known or forgotten fact that a fuel pump kit was offered as an accessory on 10hp-up. It was needed to run on boats with built-in tanks.

I have a 1959 Johnson 10hp, QD-20 I think.
It has a pressure feed for the 2 line tank, you can convert it to pump if you want, I got a pressure tank off ebay, its a good system as designed if you have the right tank. Neat little engine.!

Just for the record, the conversion kit back in '59 was part number 377385. Of course it was obsoleted over 40 years ago.

It'll cost about the same to convert it to a fuel pump as it will to buy a pressure tank. That doesn' include the cost of a new single line tank and hose.
