Thanks everyone for the advice on the last go around with this motor. My lower unit is watertight now. Now for a different problem.

It leaks engine oil when I put it on its side. From the link below...

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/H...VIN# B100S-1600001/CYLINDER BARREL/parts.html

Part # 6 GSKT, CYLINDER COVER -- The one on here is hard and crusty, I have no doubt that oil has leaked from here. Easy one to fix..

Part # 2 GASKET, OIL PAN -- This looks a little bit tougher to get to. Can anyone tell me the steps to getting in there?

What side are you leaning it on?

So ya, it's been a while since I posted. Sorry guys, I get to work on this when I have time off from my day job and my kids :)

So this is how the engine is being stored.

Completely vertical. Should not leak at all right? The lower is out because I've already started ripping things apart, and the valve cover is off because my local shop thought it could be an issue with the valve cover gasket leaking (which it isn't, the valves have been completely dried out)

Here is where the problem is...

Oil is slowly leaking out the the 2 little drain holes near the front of the engine (transom mount I guess?)

Here's another nice picture of the oil draining down on the transom mount bumpers.

This is why I'm really thinking it's the oil pan gasket. I haven't run the engine in a few months, and it's still slowly leaking.

I notice by the shaft there's a few bolts, and there's some bolts on the outside of the case. Is there any other gotchas I gotta look out for when I'm taking the engine out?

OMG I THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM!

I don't know what this part is. Maybe a crankcase breather filter? Anyone can tell there's an oil leak there just by looking at it...

See how nasty that seal is? I can't find a part number for it, does anyone know what it is?
