Motor slipping under presure

Hi , I am new at this can you help? I have a 45 Chrysler ,It locks into gear ok back and fourth,But when you open her up she slips when the presure comes on . Going slow about five nots is ok ,Every thing else is going fine!! Can you help thank you . regard, Glenn

Welcome aboard Bricknell!! I mpved this over top Chrysler OBs as opposed to Chrysler boats.

My first first guess, and easiest to eliminate, is what we call a spun prop hub. It is caused by the inner hub of the propeller separating from the outer piece that contains the blades. Scribe a mark between the two, then run her, and inspect. Lines lined up, then it is another problem, lines are not aligned anymore and you just need some propeller work . . . ;)

This could also be simple ventilation of the propeller, both would be rising RPM when more throttle is applied. I assume that's what you mean by "pressure".

Sounds like maybe you have a spun propeller hub. Take a marker and draw a line across the inner hub and outer portion of the propeller. Take your boat out and give it a whirl. Stop the motor and look at the line. If it no longer matches up, you have a spun hub.
