I have a 1990 Carver Santego, and I can't seem to locate where the bilge drain plug is. I looked at the normal spot at the bottom of the stern, but can't see it.

Anyone have the same boat and can tell me where to look.

Re: Bilge plug

If you lost the bilge drain plug: Are you sure you looked up near the helm, around the steering wheel or ignition. A lot of bilge drain plugs are kept there.

Sometimes, the bilge drain plug is kept in a cup holder, but I think this is silly and can lead to trouble.

If you are desperate to find it, just buy a new bilge drain plug.

Oh, wait.. are you are looking for the BILGE DRAIN. Might not have one.

Re: Bilge plug

The plug is hanging on the marina winterizing tag, so there is a drain somewhere. I just feel real stupid going to the marina and asking where it came from.
I can just imagine all the sarcastic answers.

Wow, you missed my new book, "Just Act Stupid". I have been boating since I was 10, and I am never afraid to act stupid. Just ask them!

Well, if all else fails put the garden hose in the bilge, turn on the water and see where it exits the boat. (Darn I had a hard time typing that, after rebuilding two boats due to rot and working as hard as I do to keep water OUT)

Depending on your climate, maybe you should use heavily salted water so it doesn't freeze as easily.

Wow, I hope that was a joke!

Use water treated with RV -100 anti-freeze if you live where it freezes and think running water through the bilge/hull is an acceptable detection method.

Salt is thy enemy.

No joke.

I live on the ocean and have salt water in my bilge quite often.
