Anyone watching?
Great stuff. Even if you don't have hd.

200 hrs. of never before seen film gathered from all over the world
the past two years. Mostly color.

My dad was one. Like everyone say's about all of them, he never
talked about it much. I guess I kind of took it for granted until he
died. At his funeral his casket was draped with an American flag,
at the end of the mass they folded it and handed it to my mother.
REALLY moved me. Not many of them left.

If any WWII vet's read's this, THANK YOU.

And THANK YOU to all the veteran's on this site.
PLEASE REMEMBER OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN IN THE MIDDLE EAST.:(

1st/15th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division..... I was assigned to the 3d Infantry Division and the Museum maintained many Murphy items and his name is the battle cry of the 1/15th Infantry to this day. When I was assigned to the 3d Infantry it was all in Europe but has since been moved to GA.

Go Marne! :D

Re: WWII-history channel

I was watching scenes from Saipan and the use of flamethrowers in the caves when my 12 yr old son walked down the stairs (I actually sailed to Saipan in the Merchant Marine and sat on the edge of those cliffs). He stood at the base of the stairs with eyes wide open for several minutes. I toyed with the idea of asking him to leave because the images were pretty intense and then a commercial started and we talked. He, like many of his peers, is big into video games including "Call of Duty". I think he was a bit surprised to discover that the "game" he plays actually occurred to real people and continues today in other places. We had a good little talk and I think he has a better appreciation for those who served and serve today. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the footage.

On balance, a pretty good portrayal. Too many advertisements and repeats of introductions. The 'new' footage is pretty hard to pick out. Much of the footage was classic older stuff. They really cut and spliced to put it all together. They also jumped around too much and it kept me up too late each night.

I would like it better if they wouldn't jump around from one theater to another, cover events out of sequence and get details wrong.

There is a lot of new material I haven't seen before and I do appreciate that.

And the commercials? ARGH.
