Any Nissan Tech or Body Pros Out There?

The left rear passenger door on my 98' Pathfinder, quit opening about two years ago! It's one of those "get to it when I have time" things and hey, I still had one rear door that worked! ;) - Not any more.

They both have a floppy outer door handle and the inner door handles do nothing. The power door locks still flick the button in and out. Must be some common door mechanism part failed.

My question is, is there any way to "jimmy" the door, to at least get them open. I can then take them apart to see what failed and repair. Otherwise they look like a real pain to disassemble while closed.

You will have to remove the door trim with the door shut, there is no other way to open the door with out doing damage. Its a PITA but it can be done.

cheers

Sounds like the linkage clips let go....... you might have to slim jim the doors and it might be easier from the inside. I would start to scour the net for an exploded view of the door to see what you are needing to hook.

If you can lower the window I do know the door lock is accessible from the inside easier than the outside....... Maybe you can open the window ....wedge the opening a bit and peek inside to see what's going on.

an after thought...... you might remove the seat bottom to give yourself more access to the door panel

My Explorer had the same problem. I was able to get a screwdriver in the small opening near the exterior door handle and open it.

A word of caution is to NEVER put your hands into an open door panel to do repairs if it has electric windows without disconneting the battery or power relays. I dont think I need to say why.
