I have a 58 electric start 35 hp Big Twin Evinrude. Does anyone know what it would take to add a generator to this outboard? I believe generators were on option on this motor. Thanks,
Jim

Lots of money and searching, you are better off with a solar panel to charge the battery than trying to find this setup.

Not that it matters, but trying to remember if these were 6, or 12 volt systems.

bk! I actually like the idea of going solar...I'm sure it would be cheaper, greener, less time and maintenance...hmmm.....

I did it on one of my '57 sea horses.Between the bracket, the generator, the belt.the larger box cover and the rectifier it was about $350.( I was lucky to be able to use an old ford rectifier).
What I got for it was interesting, a nice time spent fiddling around with my outboard and very little charging power because they will only charge when you are above 1800 rpm.
A small trickle charger will do a better job and is about 90% cheaper.
