I gave my beloved 1984 115 Merc. To my boat repair guy for helping restore the boat. He had removed the good working power head and is looking for a good working complete lower unit. This guy is very talented and a very hard working dad who had a 4 year old that lives on his boat with him. He is only 26 and fixing this motor for his Little brother who he is restoring the boat for to surprise him. His younger brother is 14. The have much love for each other and it is good to see brothers that get along so well. I am writting here because they do not have much money and he really needs a good lower unit for this power head. If anyone knows of a good lower unit with a blown power head. I would love to help them out.

Thanks

This is why we need a new working lower unit. The boat rolled down a hill and hit a park car and then a curb. It smashed the lower unit.

It would be cheaper to have the cavitation plates rewelded onto unit. The part #s are CP5L & CP5R and are $33 each. From the picture he is going to need a midsection as lower mounts are damaged and piece above torque tab is broken.

No it needs allot more than cavatation plates rewelded. The engine mount is broken. The shift rods are broken. The shaft is bent. This thing slammed the car after rooling down a big hill. I need an entire lower unit from the power head down. The complete power head is the only thing really worth saving. I am really looking for a complete engine that had a dead power head.

The piece from powerhead to lower unit is called a midsection, you will need one from a 1984 and newer engine to use the 3 ram trim.

Before 1984 did they run a double ram and a external seperate pump? I found a engine they said was about a 1984 but it had a external pump located behind the transom.
