I have a 93 mercury 60hp on a 93 Tracker Pro Crappie. The motor is a short shaft and i am wondering? Is it possible to change the lower unit to a long shaft and if so could someone tell me what i will need other than the obvious long shaft unit?
The reason i am looking in to this is my dad bought this boat used and it has never performed right it always blows the prop before you get it trimmed out.I have spent hours trying different props and lowered the engine as far as i could and this has helped but still blows the prop.I then found that the engine sets 2 1/2 inches above pad and that it is not the original engine for the boat. So i either have to replace the lower unit if possible with a long shaft or find someone who makes a lowering bracket.
Any help would be great.

If you can find a used long shaft lower unit, including the drive shaft and shift shaft, yes you simply bolt it on. Merc also make extension kit, but they're pretty expensive.
