A few questions about cooling

Got my 89 GT200 johnson running today. I had it on muffs, had a good stream from the telltale and there was water coming from the holes just above the cavatation (sp?) plate. I didn't let it run very long. The water from the telltale was getting very warm, while the water from the holes above the cavatation plate was still cool. I'm a little confused about this. If someone can shine a little light on this I would be very grateful. Thanks

Taking a guess, thermostats didn't open (yet)?

Thanks for the reply BK. , I'm relatively new to these engines and I'm probably just being overly cautious, so please excuse me if my questions sound a bit silly.

I let it run a while longer this morning and the water coming from the holes just above the anti-cavitation plate did finally heat up but still not quiet as hot as the the stream from the telltale. Also, there is a rectangle hole on the rear of the lower engine cowling, the only thing coming out of it is exhaust. Is there suppose to be water coming from this hole also? Thanks again

There are no silly questions, just one's that require answers. Don't know that motor well enough to tell you, maybe someone else could chime in.
