my motor has about 500 hours on it, i ran 40 miles to the islands, and lost power and the motor refused to run. it seems like the it is not getting fuel. the motor will run if i spray starter fluid in the intake. so i replaced the main high pressure fuel pump and yet the motor still refuses to run. i did just replace the computer b/c it had bad codes in it that was causing the oil pump to run continuesly. I have feelings it is either the lift pump of the fuel system that is bad or it is the computer, other than that im clueless, any info would be great before i buy more non returnable parts that do not fix the problem.

Do you have a service manual and diagnostic software for the motor?
They are both available at the dealer, or online at http://shop2.evinrude.com
Those will help guide you through a rational troubleshooting process, rather than randomly replacing parts.

And also please don't spray any more starter fluid into it, unless you want to make your problems way worse.

When you just turn the key on does the electric fuel pump come on and run a few seconds? If not it could be a bad fuse in PDP(power distribution panel)a bad connection in PDP or EMM problem. I would double check all connections first...

diognastic testing shows no codes fuel presure gage indicates 40 psi at power up once motor fires presure drops below 18psi was advised by certified eveinrude tech that it was the high presure fuel pump was bad and that lift pumps rarely go bad. is there away to test the lift pump? or should i have reason to believe that there might be corrupt data in the computer again?

I have replaced and rebuilt several lift pumps, you posted you have already replaced the electric pump:confused:the lift pump brings fuel from boat fuel tank to the reservoir and electric high pressure pump and a bad lift pump will not cause it not to start. If it cranks and doesnt start and you have to spray starting fluid in it as posted it a high pressure fuel problem,EMM problem, voltage problem or power relay problem.
