will a Mercury 1999 200hp CXL lower unit fit a Mercury 2001 150 CXL

Will a Mercury 1999 200hp CXL lower unit fit a Mercury 2001 150 CXL? I have a Mercury 2001 Mercury 150hp CXL (ser# ot3o5297) without a lower unit and I am being offered a 1999 Mercury 200hp CXL lower unit. I have checked the forms and the web and have not found an anwser. Both Motors have an Emission Control Plate on the power heads that has "1999 Aprial 2507cc 150-200 hp, Family XMPXM02-5210, 2507cc> part Number 37-856984 11". I am not sure if that helps. The 1999 does not have a ser# on the motor and was told it was a 1999 200hp CXL and 200hp is on the cover. They both look to be the same lenght. Can anyonr advise me if this will work?

Any V6 2.0, 2.4, 2.5 from 1976 ta present will work as long as they are the same length. XL is a 25" so yes it will work................You might have to compare gear ratio's. You never know for sure what it started as and what it might be now...........D
