Re: What is it?

The name of the boat says it all. In hind site you should have walked away from this free boat. That is a hole for a stringer drive by OMC and that hole is too big for any other drive system so you need a new transom, and then you will probably have to address the inevitable rot that you will find all over the boat. Cut your losses now and send it to the dump, unless you are good with fiberglass and lots of work and money.

weird, from the picture at the back of the boat it looks like you can look thru the transom and out the side of the boat....does it have some holes in the port side?

Big project. Rip up the deck, replace stringers deck and put in a new transom and you can use any engine drive setup you want...

BTW, welcome to iboats...

Re: What is it?

The price was right. It looks like the transom has already had an overlay / patch piece placed across the opening. It this true?

You can buy a lot of nice working boats for what it would cost you to repower this one.

Unless some is donating the parts to you, I suggest you run..........!

Wow! That would cost a ton of money to ever get it back in the water!

I would strip any good parts off and head to the dump with the rest...sorry..:(

Re: What is it?

It looks like someone had already repowered that boat....with an outboard. It looks like the boat had an outboard bracket added to it after someone gave up on the OMC stringer. I'll bet they took the bracket and outboard off b/c they were the only thing worth keeping/selling when they decided to get rid of the boat.

You should have charged them to haul it away.

Sell some tickets to come watch it burn.

Re: What is it?

Thanks for the replies. Yea the boat had an outboard pod on it which was taken off. Ill probably scrap this one, before i waste any money/time on it.
I need a boat similar to this for a new business i am starting, just don't have 40 grand to fork out.:) And no, it dosen't have any holes or cracks, that is just an optical illusion.

Re: What is it?

that hole in the arse is for a volvo 270-280, an omc cut out is square with rounded corners or round for electric shift. probably some salvagable hardware on this old beast

Yeah, that hole is for an old Volvo. There are more pictures now that weren't there earlier.

Re: What is it?

Well I have to agree that it is a lot of work! But one thing you could do if you are really wanting to use it, Take some marine plywood and cover the hole in the transom, Use a some fiberglass and coat the marine plywood to insure it wont leak, weld up a bracket and throw a outboard on it. I have done this before on a free boat, almost just like that. I did not worry about fixing it all up, just used it in the sound for crabbing.

But as far as restoring it, that is a huge project and It will cost a lot to fix.
