Another request for skiboat ID - Rego says it's an AdventureCraft?

My family has had a small ski/speed boat for many years now, and it's been sitting for way to long.

I'm going to bring it back to life, but for the life of me I cannot identify the type of boat.

The rego papers say it's a 4.2m 1978 Adventurecraft, but googling adventurecraft makes me think they never even made ski boats... so could be completely wrong.

Unfortunately there is no build plate or anything.

If anyone can recognise the design (i know it's a long shot) I'd appreciate it!

i'll add. if it's a '73 or newer. '72 and prior to that it was not a uscg requirement. so prior to '73 it may or may not have a hin #. also, if you can't find it on the starboard side like td says, look over the whole transom. my '75 has the hin molded into the glass right in the center of my transom on the outside above my drive. so location can vary...

sweet lookin boat....

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking no one answered because I had no email notifications... but I forgot to update my subscriptions :)

Yeah, it's a very cute looking boat, but it's definately for flat water only. The top of the transom sits not much more than a few inches above the waterline, and I wouldn't like to stop quickly with a bit of chop around :p

Yes, the papers had a hull ID number, but I didn't think that would help with working out the manufacturer? I'll post it up when I get home, and see if it makes sense to you guys who know something :D

Thanks heaps again!

Edit: I'm mainly keen to know the type to see what others have done with similar boats, and also so that I can research some of the manufacturer info, like max engine size etc in case I need to replace the Mercury.

Alrighties, so the hull serial number on the rego papers is AUABJ000179QT2. I haven't checked the hull itself yet, but assume it will be the same.

Is there anyway I can tell anything about the engine with and engine number 4272775?

Cheers,

Hmm... what a weird engine serial number. It doesn't seem to fit into any of the online tables!

I'll have to double check the engine again tonight.
