Last night my brother called, said he had a really
good Christmas present for me.
He found our grandfathers antique Neptune Mighty-Mite
outboard that I had given him for safe keeping 25 yrs.
ago.
Since I bought a boat this past summer, it got me thinking
about that old motor I had found years ago underneath the
basement stairs of the house we grew up in. At thanksgiving
I said, "I'd like to take it back home with me". He said "I've looked
I don't have it".
Well yesterday he found it underneath a bunch of stuff in his
garage.
I had first found it 30 yrs. ago under the basement stairs, still
in it's original cardboard box with the owners manual. It looked
like brand new. I took it back to S.IL. with me, since a friend had
a little alum. boat and their are many lakes here. We fooled around
with it a few times (ran like a top) and then I brought it back
to Chicago and gave it to my brother saying, we should keep
this. Dad had no interest in it.
Well of course now the original box is gone, probably the owners
manual too, and I'm quite sure it no longer looks new but hey I'm
not complaining! He pushed on the propeller with his foot and it
turned.
That's going to be a "cool looking" kicker next to the Tohatsu
4 stroke next summer.
