Hi all,

I've searched all over the web for this but have had no luck.

I am after the owner's manual for a Yamaha 85HP AET. I think it is 2007 or 2008.

I hope someone can point me in the best direction.

Thanks
Rich

Check your local boat dealers and or marinia. If they dont have one they can probably order if for you and save you the shipping.

Thanks guys. I'm away in Central America and there is no dealer nearby.

There doesn't seem to be any listings for the 85AET. Very strange

Re: Owners manual

the 85AET is a non us market motor.
the few years the 85 was imported it was a non oil injected varient of the 3cyl 90.
most folks here will try to tell you Yamaha quit making it, they just quit importing it to the US market.
only place in south america,I know none in central america, would be venemarine in Caracas VE.

There's a place in Florida called: The Motor Bookstore. Check out their web-site, they carry books on all kinds of motors and engines. You can order from them and they will ship book directly to you in a couple of days. Good Luck!

Does this mean if I get hold of the 90AET manual it will cover most things. I need to know what I can do as an owner to service/clean/change oil myself. General maintainence basicly to keep the motor in top shape.

Thanks again

Re: Owners manual

Yes, if you get the manual you can study it, look at the motor and learn the things required to make it run great all the time. One of the most important items to remember is provide your motor with clean, fresh, stabilized fuel all the time. Learn to drain your carbs a couple of times a year, a quick and easy job and well worth the effort. An outboard motor can be a real headache or a dependable pleasure on the lake or river. Good Luck!

I believe you will need a service/repair manual to get instructions on how to do things. A owners manual will give specs, maintenance intervals, and other info, but not what you are asking.

Re: Owners manual

Exactly right!, That little owners book give you a perfect, condensed source of information on the successful operation of your motor. Good place to keep notes on motor specifics like prop information, type of spark plugs, maintenance schedules, etc. And of course these forums are a great place to share any questions, problems, concerns with your motor! Good Luck!

Re: Owners manual

from what I have seen working on Yamahas in venezuela there isnt a lot of difference between some of the US market models and the AET or BET models for the international market. but be aware that there can be a BIG difference in replacement part numbers as well as service procedures.
