My boat basically looks like this. I have a 5 gallon plastic portable gas tank. I also always carry two batteries. Can I put the gas tank in the bow under the casting deck? Will a fuel line reach that far? Where should the tank and batteries go in this situation?

it it will fit sure. just take the existing line apart and make one long enough. good idea to protect it. you can slide the hose thru PVC pipe for protection.

Only if the area is open with free air flow.
Putting a portable fuel tank in an enclosed area is dangerous and illegal.

If yours is the 20' boat, and your motor is compatible, you need more than 5 gallons of gas. I'd look for ways to distribute it amidships.
Overall it's better to have the weight in the stern than the bow. It's easy to submarine your bow coming off of speed when it's front-weighted, and that's a big safety problem in an aluminum boat.
Batteries shouldn't be in enclosed areas, either.
Go to a dealer or marina and see how others rig that boat.
