You need to open the other post and c&p the address then insert it...... as an example if we were talking about pictures I would refer people to this post http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=285637
All I did was copy the address and past it in here.
Write the text you'd like the link to appear as,... Then Hi-light it,...
Then use the button for posting links.... Copy,+ paste the link into the little box that appears,+ click OK...
It'll look like This,+ still bring you to the link...
and if you want to refer to a specific post within a thread all you do is right click on the number (right side) in the blue bar of the post and "Copy Link Location" and then paste that.... like if I wanted to point you to Bob's post in this thread:

User CP at the top (left) below the first banner add... Edit Options in the left vertical bar... scroll way down to the Misc. Options and make sure your Message Editor Interface is set to "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls"
