price for 12' aluminum boat with 8hp outboard?

i have a 12' lowe aluminum rowboat and a 1992 johnson 8hp in good condition. (compression etc) how much should i ask for the pair? and i would i be better off splitting them up?

I recently sold a 12' Sears, kept my 8hp Nissan, and then sold the trailer as well. The boat brought $325 (ebay), the engine was not sold, and its jetski trailer brought $180 (Craig's list). I estimate my 1998 engine may have been worth $500 to $800 if I wanted to shop for another, but it works fine on the 14' Mirrocraft and trailer I subsequently purchased (Craig's list) with trailer for $600.

The Mirrorcraft was a package, but he wanted $1400 for the lot and no one was interested. He had an older 25 hp engine on it that he will eventually have to sell separately.

Hope this gives you a handle on how to market it.

i would probably keep my trailer. unless i could find a package deal.
originally i wanted to just upgrade to a 15hp for my boat but it seemed cheaper to just buy a package since i would pay at least 800 for the 15hp
i was thinking about 2-300 for the boat with 5-600 for the motor since it was used mostly as a sailboat engine

ive had it on CL and havent had any hits, for 900$.
i guess the markets dead.

Of course, local markets vary, but in our neck of the woods in Southern Cal your price is a bit high. For a 12 footer with motor AND trailer your'e looking between $900 and $12oo. Most folks looking for a starter package need a trailer too.

My dad bought a 14' with a newer trailer and 5HP merc (low end single cylinder but running) for $600 the end of the season.

I bought a 12' Sea King with a 6 HP Merc and trailer for $450. Did a few repairs, painted the trailer and sold it a few months later for $1450. Sad to see it go but that was a heck of a profit! I'd say you should be somewhere in that range depending on condition. Cheers!
