I have a 24ft monarch.... I am needing to replace the carpet soon, doesn't have to be this year but thought I might. Installing carpet can be such a pain in the butt I was thinking maybe taking the carpet out and then installing a tan rubber coating floor. Money is always a factor, but so is how its going to hold up and the comfort under my feet. If anyone has done this I would love to see some pictures and tell me how its worked out for you. I do not want to burn my kids feet either sitting in the sun either. I know some people who fish use it for easier clean up, but this isn't a fishing boat....more pleasure. Thanks in advance.

Re: rubber/laminate floor instead of carpet

You're right about keeping the color light for cooling/sun reflection. I put down black foam rubber mats in my boat and they got so hot you couldn't stand on them, got rid of those! Expect a lighter colored indoor/outdoor marine carpet may be your best bet, especially for kids feet and for good traction when wet. I use a ribbed dark green marine type carpet from Home Depot on my front deck and it works fine, just have to replace it every few years. An 8' by 8' piece is about $50, so it won't break the bank. Good Luck!

I prefer carpet in a pleasure craft. If you just replace the carpet that is visable from the deck, it's not that big of a deal.

Even removing all the furniture and carpeting around the console isn't too bad.

Good luck.
