The humidifier pump hasn't been working properly lately. and trying to heat the 20 degree air hasnt been helping. so basically i have to turn off the water going to the pump or it will overflow. overnight left on the basement floor flooded i filled 3 6 1/2 gallon buckets of water. i just replaced the pump as it happened the day before but i caught it a little bit earlier. im not sure whats wrong.

Re: Humidifier pump not working

Mine worked last year flawlessly, and then this year I turned the switch back on, and water came dripping out of the plastic housing on the back of my furnace. My buddy the plumber told me that there is a "filter" back there and it is most likely clogged. Unless the water drain line is plugged up. Which mine is not. He told me to take off the cover and I'd probably see that "filter" plugged up with hard water/dirt deposits. You might try the same.

Yes, but i just bought a new one, figuring the old one needed to be replaced as it was orginal equipment, when the house was built in 96
