Hi there I have acquired a Mariner 60hp outboard from ebay with controls . I am New to boating and wondered if anyone could confirm the year with the serial number of 9444374 and can you connect temp and rpm gauges to these engines and how? Also what service things do I need to look for. have heard about replacing the impeller but I have no idea where they are any help would be great full

Hi,

Closest I can get is 1986-1990.

To hook up tacho and other gauges you'll need an electrical harness that connects to the control box. You'll also need instruments designed for that engine. Find you nearest friendly Mercury dealership, and get friendly with him!

If you plan to service the engine yourself. GET THE MERCURY SERVICE MANUAL. I can't stress this strongly enough. If you've never serviced an outboard before it will be your lifesaver. The manual you need is part number 90-86135-5. Try e-bay for that, or the Merc dealer.
