Man that looks like one huge mess to clean up. You would hope a covered slip would protect your boat from the elements. That was some serious snow y'all got!!

The roof over there in the left of the photo doesn't look like it has more than 2" of snow on it, they must have cleared it off before it collapsed too. Either that or the snow had alreaded melted away days after the event.

Look at the dock boxes in the foreground of the pic to get an idea of the snow load on that roof before the collapse.

If the insured boat's companies are as liberal as they are down here with hurricane damage to boats, they will total every boat.

Heck, they will total a boat trailer is it got all storm surged.

Thats so weird how they let the boats freeze in there.

I'm guessing, because the covers are flat and the support is not real hefty, that snow is not common there.

The roof didn't accumulate snow b/c there were high winds with the storm. All the roof's snow blew down onto the boats!
As to the guy from Wisconsin: freezing is not the big issue here as it is there. Temps were in the 20's at night, 30's in the day. If you look at ogher pics you see that the sea water around the hulls is not frozen or barely frozen; it's slushy so it won't do the kind of damage it would up there and in fresh water. The bilge water inside the boat doesn't freeze either. And lots of them leave their OB's tilted up with no ill effect (I don't).
Meanwhile the boat owners are stuck in their houses with more important things to deal with than their boats. Give them some time to get down their and clear it off. Probably all melted yesterday.

I think it only fair to point out that, unlike the boatowner in the 'its just sad' thread, the vast majority of these owners WANT to protect their vessels as much as possible.
Those shed slips are NOT inexpensive.
After these accidents I'm sure ALL marina roofing will be examined and reinforced to higher standards. At least nobody was hurt.
