Hello, Everyone

Advice from experienced portable outboard users needed! Two weeks ago I bought my first boat - Cadet Compact 250 with a Suzuki DF5S then last weekend I finally went boating and fishing In the afternoon I deflated and packed the boat, gently wiped the engine and put it on the back seat and drove home happy. And already at home I found that the seat was spoilt by oil and grease What the h...?!! The dealer said it's normal and all outboards are dripping oil and water after use... right on time...

Has anyone encountered this problem and how do you handle it?

Perfectly normal. It's unburnt fuel/oil mix that normally comes out of the exhaust.
Solution is to put the motor in a garbage bag until you get home.

Sorry you had to learn this lesson the hard way. I can imagine that it is quite a mess..... Have faith in your dealer- he was correct.

Best of luck to you. Don't hesitate to yell if you run in to anything else like this in the future that is a head scratcher....

Dish soap and lots of water, the exhaust on an outboard travels from the top of the engine(powerhead) down and out the center of the prop, unburned gas will loosen the carbon built up in the lower and make it leak out, totally normal.

Absolutely normal. That is what they do.
Does it have to go on the back seat ???

Thanks, guys

I guess I really should put it in the trunk though I'm not sure that it won't scratch the garbage bag through so probably it should be put in the trunk alone to prevent other things from being spoilt...
