Vortec & non-vortec question

Hey Guys-

What's the difference between a vortec and non-vortec GM 4.3L motor? I have a '92 4.3L with an Alpha 1 drive and a 2bbl carb. I'm planning on changing out the intake manifold & putting on a 4bbl on it. How much work & expense is it to put a vortec head on it? Thanks.

Ayuh,... The Heads,+ Intake manifold....

No more difficult than any other head change, but will make a HUGE difference in power.
4bbl upgrade is good for about 20hp. Vortec heads are good for about 35hp on a 4.3

Hmmm...I think I'll add that to my to do list. I can handle another 50 or horsepower.
