Sea Foam treatment in a test tank?

Hi Gents,
I want to run a tank of gas with sea Foam through my recently acquired Merc 7.5 after I get all the little problems fixed on it.
Is it o.k. to run it in a tank for a long period to clean it with Sea Foam?
I'd like to get it done before fishing season starts in the spring.
I figured I would let it idle for semi-long periods and rev it from time to time.
Would that be o.k.?

I did the good old sea foam teartment on my stack 6 and I did it the way the guys here told me to do it. I put half a can in a gallon of and oil and ran it. It smoked real good but bought my compression back up . It was that or a rebuild.
