im a new boat owner. and i have a 1988 vip with a 125 force ob. now the previous own had a pylon ski pole and it broke one of the braces because there was slack in the rope. now my question is i bought a tow rope that is a v shape with a liltle peace of foam float on it . now where do i hook it up at? i only have eyelets near the bottom of the boat, where you would hook the tow straps from the boat to the trailer..... do i use them????

Using eye bolts that are installed low on the transom will work, but you need to make sure that they are strong enough for this application. If the eyebolt head is just a bent section it really isn't sufficient. If the eyebolt is a forged one piece with a large washer or backing plate installed inside the boat it will work fine. Remember the trailer straps are pulling down at an angle almost perpendicular to the bolt installation. Towing will pull almost straight back. You need large washers or backing plates on your tow eyes. Tubes and inflatables will run fine on the low tow attachment, but you may find it very difficult to start on a ski, wakeboard or hydrofoil. Attaching your tow bridal to forged eyebolts placed higher on the transom makes it much easier to water start (that small change in angle helps a lot).
Even loading up on a slack line should not bend the supports on a properly installed pole. The support may have been dented, bent previously or subjected to excessive loads (multiple people in a tube). A properly installed short pole is a great option and mine has withstood riders crashing while throwing inverted tricks on hydrofoils. You might want to replace the pole.

Re: dumb Question but need to know

If the pylon is still with the boat why not get it fixed up to be functional again. the added height will be greatly appreciated by everyone who gets towed behind the boat. The transom eyes can be used but it is a very low tow point. Young kids will struggle with the rope getting caught up in the rooster that the prop wash creates. If pulling tubes be aware that the low tow point will want to pull the front of the tube down when slowing down.

I don't know if or where just the braces can be purchased. If you or someone you know is a welder/fabricator/machinist etc I'm SURE it can't be that hard of a project. Might even be able to use stainless bimini type hardware. Go to a local boat store and look at one there for some ideas. Even if it costs you a bit of $ it will be worth it in the long run over the transom hooks. (imo)
