obviously i was told that the 2.0 and 2.5 use the same crank, rods, and heads but that the 2.0 has a smaller bore is this true

2.0 bore is 3.125"
2.5 bore is 3.501"
Stroke for both engines is 2.650"

i have a 95 2.5efi that lost a piston and cracked the block so what im told i can do is use a 2.0 block and pistons and use the original crank and heads from the 2.5 will it work b/c i have a freind that has a 2.o block pistons and rods

This depends on year of the of the 2.0 block as main bearings are different..
heads from the 2.5

Heads will not even come close to bolting up on the 2.0...
Depending on the year of the 2.0 if a late model you can install your EFI system but you will need to change the ECU to a 2.0(11350A45) as the 2.5 fuel curve is to rich for a 2.0 block..Also you need to find out why it lost a cylinder as injector or ECU could be failing and problem will just repeat itself if not addressed..

the 2.0 is a 97 carbed motor and the 2.5 is a 95 efi what all will i need to do the swap the guy has the full motor minus the crank this is my first boat so any help or tips would be very much appreciated

You can use your crank and crank only. Leave everything else on tha 2.0 as is (rods, pistons, heads, carbs, electrics and everything else) would be tha easiest and trouble free change if tha 2.0 is in good shape other than tha crank. You will lose a little performance though...............JMO
