I am trying to install LWS-M Aerator Timer to a Carling 3 way switch with 7 contacts.
Switch is OFF in middle position.
Switch is ON in top position and livewell comes on.
I need to install timer to come on when switch is on in bottom position?

Section#5... Carling Switch Contura II & III Series

.. Switch Terminal Locations

8= Light (+) 7= Light (-)
1= Load 4= Load
2= Power (+B) 5= Power (+B)
3= Load 6= Load

Re: Aerator Livewel wiring

Question: Does this timer have an adjustment knob on it or is it a simply a potted assembly that must be wired to a separate switch. All the live well timers I'm familiar with have a separate OFF, CONSTANT ON, TIMER so why the separate switch? A link and/or picture of what you are trying to wire up would certainly help.

Re: Aerator Livewel wiring

OK then -- here ya go: You said the switch had 7 contacts but it clearly has eight.

Black/ground on the timer connects to a ground either at the ground buss or negative terminal at the battery. It DOES NOT connect to anything on the switch.

Red on the timer connects to one of the LOAD terminals on the switch.
Green on the timer feeds power to the positive lead on the aerator. Negative on the aerator goes to ground either at the ground buss or negative terminal of the battery. It DOES NOT connect to anything on the switch.

+12 volts from the fuse panel connects to the B+ terminal on the switch that is on the same side of the switch as the LOAD terminal you connected earlier. You will need to check the diagram for the switch to determine how it operates internally. If you have no diagram and can't find one on the net, use an ohm meter to determine which terminals are connected when you set the switch down. I'm guessing it will be 2 and 3 on one side and 5 and 6 on the other.

So - +12 flows into the switch on the B+ terminal. It flows out of the switch on terminal 1 (switch up) or terminal 3 (switch down). From there it goes to the red terminal on the timer module. From the timer module it goes out the green lead to the aerator. Ground on the timer module is ground for the timer electronics. Ground for the aerator comes off the aerator motor.

The same current paths can be used on the other side of the switch if you so desire.

Re: Fuel Gauge or Sensor

Re: Fuel Gauge or Sensor

Boat fuel gauge is pegged past full when key is on or off and this upsets my wife.
It was working fine and then fuel gauge pointer went past full and stayed there. The boat has a 45 gallon fuel tank with Moeller fuel conversion capsule.

How do you test to find out if gauge is culprit or moeller capsule is bad?

Make sure you have a good ground at the sender. If no good, gauge will peg "full"...
