I have a 1989 johnson 25 hp that i have fought with for the last few months now. nearly every component of the fuel system has been replaced except for the choke/primer assembly. The motor idles fine but when i try to take off it just sputters out and dies. took the choke assembly out today and it appears to have an o-ring that has broken down inside. however i dont have a manual or anything to determine where it went or what size i need for replacement. if anyone has a drawing of this assembly it would be greatly helpful.

The schrader valve (red part) upgrade replacement is part #0175158 or Sierra #18-0871.

The top of the primer solenoid replacement is #0437228 or Sierra #18-0993.

The injector hose for the Schrader valve is #0763644.

Re: 1989 Johnson 25 hp choke/primer assembly

thanks for the input, but i believe i may have been describing the wrong part. the part im looking for has the pull tab that goes through the cowling to the outside of the motor. i always believed it to be the choke, but after researching the item i found it described as the other name. it has two gas lines coming off of it. one goes to the bowl on the carb and the other, if i remember correctly goes to a "t" with one line back to the block and the other to the top of the carb.
