Had a fine running 9.5 1973 model that lost spark on top cylinder. I pulled the fly wheel and found all of the stator plate screws loose. all else look fine. points and condensor look fine. i cleaned and reset the gap in all and reasymbled and still have no spark in the top cylinder the coils look brand new as well as the points. How do i check this flaw or just use the shot gun approach and change everything. Any sugestion would be appreciaited. The manual tell you how to change and check cleances, but gives no tests. Thanks....Robert

Check stop circuit to start, disconnect it. Still nothing- Clean and adjust points and test. Swap coils to test if still no spark. If no spark on the same cylinder points and condensor need replacing. Could be a non seated wire in the coil as well.

Swap out condensors too and see if you get spark in the other cylinder. I would try this first, before swapping out coils, It's just a tad easier.:D

How's your arm BK?

Re: 9.5 lost spark

Hi, after removing the fly wheel, found a loose stator plate, missaligned points ,and chaffed kill wires. I have a tune up kit and will install. have relaced the kill wiring. that will leave onlt the coils.....Robert
