Question about gelseal?

UPS delivered my parts yesterday and they sent this little tiny tube of gelseal about the size of a super glue tube. I was expecting something along the size of a toothpaste tube. My question is, are those little tubes enough to seal the halves of a v4 crankcase? It doesn't look to me like it would be. I'm just wondering if I should run down to the nearest Evinrude dealer and get a big tube, you would think when you are ordering internal parts the parts guy would know enough to know you need enough to seal the crankcase halves together. But then again I guess that's why he is a parts guy.

Re: Question about gelseal?

I too had gotten a small tube from my Rude dealer and questioned if it was enough. They said yes, which led me to believe I was using too much. Clearly, most of the gelseal will ooze out.

It did seem a bit small however.

I'll check out loctite 518.

The small tube will do your rebuild, a big tube will do several, you don't need much, as Mas says it mostly oozes out.
