Do pistons & rings need to be brand matched?

I don't know what brand the pistons are in my engine. Can I put any make of ring on the existing piston?

Not 100% sure but I would say yes you can I know that on automotive engines you can.

Just be sure both pistons have the same type of ring grooves. Early pistons use standard type grooves/rings. Later model use semi-keystone type rings. They are not interchangeable.
