Thermostat installation order

I noticed my 96 Force engine isn't squirting out any water from the cooling port so I bought a new thermostat, seat, gasket and spacer. Looking at the Diagram I could find it looks like The spacer goes between the Thermostat and Seal, but when I opened my current engine the spacer was basically around/in front of the Thermostat. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the proper configuration? Also do I need any gasket sealant when installing the gasket?

Thanks

Re: Thermostat installation order

Hi, welcome to iboats, Moose.

No need for sealant, it is a low pressure open system, just use the gasket.

What hp motor?

I would follow the diagram.

You should really post the make/ model/and year of your motor in all future questions, as they vary greatly.

You can go to the link below, choose your hp and year, then choose the part you want to view.

Re: Thermostat installation order

Thanks for the reply Roscoe. I apologize, I thought I had included the engine info. It is a 1996 120HP. I guess I will go ahead and install as indicated in the diagram.
