Volvo Tamd22 Loss Of Power

I Have A 20ft Boat With Volvo Tamd22 Turbo Diesel Inboard.on Full Throttle Under Load I Can Only Get About 2000rpm Instead Of 4500rpm.at Full Throttle (2000rpm Under Load)there Is No Black Smoke And When I Put Into Neutral I Can Then Get 4500 Rpm.any Suggestions Please.this Happened Once Before And It Corrected Itself Within Minutes But Now It Is A Permanent Problem With A Top Speed Of 7knots Instead Of 22 Knots

Howdy,



Couple of things.. DO NOT run your engine at full speed unloaded. That tells you nothing other than the maximum speed the governor is set at.(which will usually protect the engine from an operator trying to destroy it)

You may have a turbocharger problem, plugged air cleaner/screen, you're dragging an anchor, or other "stuff" or a severely barnacled drive/bottom etc!

You also may have plugged fuel filter, or a couple of bad plugged/injectors etc...


This is standard diesel stuff....not necessarily unique to that engine/drive combo.....
