Re: 66 evinrude 6hp
thanks for the answer but i also have anothe question. i have replaced the spark plugs and it still sound like its not firing but im not a mechanic so i could be wrong. is there any advice i could get? please and thank you......
I have a 1967 6hp that I just finished redoing and it runs great now! About 5month this site helped me rebuild at 9.5hp Evinrude. About 1yr ago I did not know much about outboard repair and maintenance. Some very good information was given to me on this website. The experts on this site are very good with helping out including descriptions and even illustrations/pictures when needed.
Couple of suggestions:
-- Please do yourself a big favor and get a service manual. They have manuals on iboats, ebay, and such. This will answer alot of your questions and is invaluable resource.
***the manual will have guidance and illustrations for repairs as well as specific measurements and specs for your motor.
-- check these links for some very good information supplied by Iboats forum
This is listed as secret files and is full of very very good information:

Digital camera is useful when taking things apart and remembering how to put it back together. Also, use cheap zip lock bags to organize pieces and label the the bag, so you don't forget parts or lose them.
If you have problems on the way, post a question and you should get some excellent advice.
Good luck!!
