Re: A Thank You to iboats and its members
I realize that starting a forum on a subject that involves the products you market is a great idea. Not rocket science, but this "store" has close to 300,000 potential customers.
It seems that in the conception of the site it was intended that this be a family site that dealt with most aspects of enjoying the water.
When compared to other sites, I find this one heavily "managed" which (seems to me) has been very effective in keeping the rif-raf out and keeping it an enjoyable family site.
The other thing I find here is the desire to help rather than the chance to show off.
I think helping another person through sharing our knowledge, or personal experiences, makes us all feel good and keeps us returning to the forums. I know it does me.
The other thing, by being a forum, misconceptions don't last very long. The truth prevails (normally) and myths are broken. Course sometimes things get a little stressed.
A side benefit to me is being exposed to situations that others experience that I (we) may have been exposed to with different elements or outcomes, I find very interesting and informative. One that immediately comes to mind is the current Merc lower-unit that won't separate from the mid-section.....it's like reading a novel and I can't wait to hear the conclusion.
My usual rambling 2c
