Newbie couple questions on my first project.

Bought this old thing for a couple hundred bucks, and would like to convert into a deck type fishing boat electric only lakes and resovoirs. I have a 5 year old who loves to fish and his little brother is 3 and is not far behind. I think a boat like this is much wider and stabler. I will post some pics. The boat is pretty much stripped, and I believe I can handle the small patch work due to a couple of excellent posts/articles that I have read in here, but want to ask the question... feel really stupid asking, but do I need to put in stringers on this boat for support? I am fairly sure that I do, so how would you guys suggest i start this as there is nothing for me to copy or even get an idea? Hopefully the picture will attach with no problems.

not much chance of me working on this boat if I can not even figure out how to post a pic... it is telling me the "file too big for this forum". Its late so I will give it another shot tomorrow.

Yes you have to have the stringers in the hull.

I sent you a private message on how to do the images. If you need more help on it please send me a PM back and I'll help you the best I can with putting images on here.

[/attach] Thanks for the help guys. I will continue to work with the picture to make them larger ( i believe you can click on to enlarge for the time being). I will take out that stinky carpet that is on the bottom and post another pic this afternoon.

Definitely go the photobucket route. Trying to attach pics right on iboats is painful and the file size restrictions are too small.

There we go, pics are always a huge help in the process. It takes time to learn how to put pictures on here, but good job so far.

Well it does look to be a nice boat. It does have a good amount of room in it right now. If part of the floor is rotted then that does mean that stringers are most more than likely rotted as well. Those are always fun to take out. Looking forward to more updates on how it's going with the boat and keep the pictures coming.

MAtrix.. first thanks for the help, 2nd you are correct about rot/soft wood. It looks like where the captains chairs used to be.. right beside that awesome steering wheel. Looks like I will just jump in the water with both feet and see what comes.
