I have a 40 hp johnson. It's around a 1980 or so. I'm getting no spark in both cylinders. I'm guessing its not the coils since I'm not getting spark from either, but im not positive. Any suggestions? Also, is there a way to test the coils with an ohm meter? Thanks, Nick

Unplug big red connector at powerhead, jump starter solenoid.{ red terminal to closest small terminal} Pull off spark plug leads, spark should jump 1/2 in gap. Bright blue snap. This way you have eliminated the key switch and kill switch and remote control harness as possible problems.

Hi have you checked the points gap? I had no spark so I reset the points and spark plugs and that fixed it..
