I just got a 1980 bayliner mutiny with no interior and the fiber glass has worn down to the plywood. I have checked the wood and it has no soft spots so im going to repair the fiberglass. i have two back to back seats i want to install but the mounting holes are on two little pieces of wood on either side of the boat. There isnt any on the floor. how do i mount these seats?

Re: interior question

You could always use 3 1/2" grabber screws like a friend of mine did on his flat bottom jet boat. Pretty funny when he went to launch it and found he'd screwed it to the trailer...

do you screw into the wood only than fiberglass over it or fiberglass first than mount them to the fiberglass

Re: interior question

most smaller bayliners have the seat bases fiberglassed to the hull/deck. then, the actual seats screw onto the top of the bases.

Re: interior question

I would glass over the ply, then go ahead and mount your seats where you want them.
