I am changing motors this year, I have a rebuilt 90hp mercury (1978). Last year I had a 1991 115hp Mariner. The plug wires are definitly not the same, so I was hoping someone might be able to help me splice the correct colors together. I don't have a manual yet for my 90hp, but I do have one for my 1991 the older one has been ordered. If anyone has spliced these together and can give me the correct color coding I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I spliced the controls from my 1977 inline six to a '93 V6. Look on the maxrules.com web site and get the missing wiring diaghram, and create an interconection list. Here are some connections.

1978 1991
Ign killer orange Black/yellow
Choke Grey Yellow/black?
Battery+ Red Red
Ground - Black Black
Starter Solenoid Yellow Yellow/red
Ign power White Purple for accessories
Tach Brown Grey
